Two friends who met as graduate students, while studying across the street from one another at two seminaries in New York City.
They worked together at the Interfaith Community, serving as co-teachers for educational classes provided to children of Jewish-Christian families.
Ari recently completed an 11-year career as a full-time pulpit rabbi with stops at Beth Mordecai in Perth Amboy (2012-2017) and the Huntington Jewish Center on Long Island (2017-2023). During these years he served as President of the Rabbinical Association in the Heart of New Jersey and as a Deputy Commander of the Perth Amboy Police Chaplain Corps. Rabbi Saks completed fellowships with CLAL’s Rabbis Without Borders program and 18Doors’ Rukin Rabbinic Fellowship for interfaith family outreach.
Currently, Rabbi Saks is focusing his efforts on reaching out to interfaith families. He is also developing unique, online Adult Education curricula including “Torah Teachings for Jewish Grandparents of Interfaith Families” and “How Israel Should be Taught on College Campuses.” Finally, Rabbi Saks serves Torat Yisrael, a Conservative congregation in Rhode Island, on a part-time basis and serves pastoral needs for unaffiliated families in the Philadelphia area.
Rabbi Saks received smicha, an M.A. in Jewish Education and a B.A in Bible from the Jewish Theological Seminary, and a B.A. from Columbia University in Middle Eastern and Asian Languages and Cultures. He lives in Philadelphia with his wife Rachel and his two beautiful children – Jonah and Lilah.
Since 2007, Anna has worked exclusively in the nonprofit and higher education sectors, for a variety of faith-based programs and organizations. While completing her graduate degree in systematic theology at Union, she began working for Church Women United (CWU) and the Interfaith Community (IFC). She later joined the CWU national board and served for three years as the Young CWU representative. Over the next 9 years she worked at The Garrison Institute and Fordham University, while maintaining her role as an educator for the IFC.
After a brief sojourn in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico, Anna and her husband Pablo relocated to Southern California. Since 2018 she has worked at Fuller Psychological and Family Services, a mental health clinic that is also the training facility for Fuller Seminary's School of Psychology and Marriage & Family Therapy. Most recently Anna's role has expanded as Director of Administration for Fuller Clinics, to open additional clinic sites in Phoenix and Houston.
Throughout her career, Anna's passion for supporting interfaith families remained steadfast. In moving to Los Angeles, she realized there are still too few interfaith organizations focused on blended, multi-faith households. Reconnecting with Ari in 2023 to begin working on the Interfaithing Podcast, Anna is bringing to life one of her dreams - providing meaningful content and resources to expand religious literacy, acceptance of differences, and spreading the joy of a lifelong spiritual journey.
